APCICT to gather regional officials and development stakeholders in the Republic of Korea for the Second Asia-Pacific Regional Forum on ICT Human Capacity Development: Where are we, Where are we going, and What will it take to fill the gap?
APCICT and partners in Central Asia to enhance ICTD through a series of events in September: Sub-regional workshop on ICT for disaster management and climate change abatement in Kyrgyzstan; and launch of localized Academy of ICT Essential for Government Leaders programme in Tajikistan.
This month UN-APCICT/ESCAP will support Timor-Leste’s Directorate National of Information and Communication Technology to deliver an “Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders” workshop, and participate in the International Youth Forum in the Republic of Korea to raise awareness on ICT for development.
On 4-8 July, UN-APCICT/ESCAP will partner with the Royal Government of Bhutan’s Ministry of Information and Communication and the Royal Institute of Management to launch the “Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders” (Academy) programme in the country.
On 16 June, APCICT celebrates its 5 year anniversary as a regional institute of UNESCAP. APCICT was established in 2006, to help build the capacity of countries within the Asia-Pacific region through training programmes, research and advisory services in the use of ICT for socio-economic development.

In celebration of its 5th year anniversary, the United Nations Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (UN-APCICT/ESCAP), has posted two, new online resources on the Centre’s website.
Designed to help enhance understanding of everyday ICT terminology and to serve as a reference for those looking to identify institutions providing ICT for development (ICTD) training in the Asia-Pacific, the resources, currently in draft form, will be formally published and distributed in July 2011.
