Research and Development Centre of ICT Literacy and Profession of Indonesia, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology of Indonesia, rolls out a module on ICT for Disaster Risk Management of APCICT’s flagship programme in Indonesia.

search and Development Centre of ICT Literacy and Profession of Indonesia, Ministry of Communication and On 13-15 June 2013, Research and Development Centre of ICT Literacy and Profession, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology of Indonesia, organized a 3-day training workshop on Module 9 on ICT for Disaster Risk Management of Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The workshop was attended by around 60 government officials in the field of ICT management and/or disaster risk management.

The workshop covered sub-themes of ICT for Disaster Risk Management such as the use of ICT for disaster mitigation, disaster preparedness, disaster management and relief, disaster recovery and reconstruction, and development of regional and international networks. Senior officials from the National Agency for Disaster Relief and three faculty members from the University of Indonesia served as resource persons for the workshop.

The workshop, which marked the roll-out of Academy Module 9, helped enhance awareness and knowledge on the use of ICT for disaster risk management among relevant government officials in Indonesia.

The first national roll-out of the Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders was undertaken in 2009 in Indonesia. Since then, a total of 15 Academy-related workshops have been organized in the country. The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology of Indonesia and the University of Indonesia have been active partners of APCICT leading the Academy roll-out in the country. The Academy has been localized into Bahasa Indonesia by the University of Indonesia.
