UN APCICT has developed Module 10 on ICT, Climate Change & Green Growth as part of the Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders (Academy), and the Monitoring & Evaluation Toolkit for the Academy.

UN APCICT launches two new publications - “ICT, Climate Change & Green Growth” and “Monitoring & Evaluation Toolkit”. The publications are the latest additions to the “Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders (Academy)”.

The publication, “ICT, Climate Change & Green Growth”, is the tenth module (Module 10) of the Academy. It examines the use of ICTs in better understanding and monitoring of the environment, and their potential for mitigating climate change and adapting to its impacts. The module identifies new “green” and “smart” technologies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, facilitating climate monitoring, and adapting to anticipated changes. The module also offers policy recommendations on how to incorporate the use of ICT in national climate change policy frameworks.

The ‘Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Toolkit’ has been developed in response to the need for a comprehensive and streamlined approach to monitoring and evaluating the Academy programme. As a practical, step-by-step guide, the M&E Toolkit is expected to help partners implementing the Academy programme to assess the progress and impact of the programme at the national level.

M&E content can also be accessed now through video, audio and synchronized presentations on the APCICT Virtual Academy (http://e-learning.unapcict.org), the Centre’s online learning platform. Module 10 content is available for download at APCICT’s website (www.unapcict.org).

The Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders (Academy) is APCICT’s flagship training programme that aims to equip government officials with knowledge and skills to fully leverage ICT for socio-economic development. It consists of 11 stand-alone modules ranging from basic to more advanced topics in ICT for Development that can be delivered face-to-face or as online self-study courses.
