Over 60 government officials, academics and development stakeholders in the Maldives take part in trainings on using ICT for youth development, disaster risk management and climate change abatement.

On 26-29 March 2012, APCICT and the Maldives National University organized two ICT capacity development workshops. Thirty-one professors and university faculty participated in a Primer Series training of trainers workshop on how to deliver ICTD education to youth. The workshop was delivered by Primer Series author, Dr. Usha Reddi.

The second workshop organized by APCICT and the Maldives National University, delivered training to 30 government officials on the ‘Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders’ (Academy), APCICT’s flagship programme to equip government officials with the tools to leverage ICT for development. Participants covered Academy Module 9, ‘ICT for Disaster Risk Management’, and Module 10, ‘ICT and Climate Change’, to support the effective implementation of ICT in the Maldives national disaster management and climate change frameworks. The workshop was delivered by Resource Persons from the Asia Disaster Preparedness Center.
