UN-APCICT strengthens capacity of the Government of the Kingdom of Bhutan on using social media for development and governance

On 14-17 April 2015, the Government of the Kingdom of Bhutan and UN-APCICT/ESCAP are co-organizing the Capacity Building Programme on Social Media for Development and Governance. The programmeis being undertaken in cooperation with the country’s Ministry of Information and Communications.

The activity marks an important step in deepening the understanding of country’s government leaders and policymakers on the potential of social media for sustainable socio-economic development and good governance.

United Nations hub on ICT for development gathers stakeholders to enhance human capacity in the region and beyond

APCICT gathers government officials, academia and development stakeholders for meetings on Academy and Primer Series information and communications technology for development (ICTD) programmes.

Incheon, Republic of Korea – Over 50 government officials, representatives from academia and development stakeholders from 25 Asia-Pacific countries are meeting in Incheon, Republic of Korea this week to review the progress and impact of United Nations’ information and communications technology for development (ICTD) programmes.

On 16 July, the Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (UN-APCICT/ESCAP) welcomed government officials and engineers from Nigeria to receive training on the Centre’s flagship capacity development programme, the “Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders” (Academy).

APCICT and the Maldives National University organize workshops to strengthen the ICT capacity for youth and government officials

Over 60 government officials, academics and development stakeholders in the Maldives take part in trainings on using ICT for youth development, disaster risk management and climate change abatement.

On 26-29 March 2012, APCICT and the Maldives National University organized two ICT capacity development workshops. Thirty-one professors and university faculty participated in a Primer Series training of trainers workshop on how to deliver ICTD education to youth. The workshop was delivered by Primer Series author, Dr. Usha Reddi.

United Nations partners with Indonesia to strengthen ICT capacity of youth and government officials

APCICT partners with University of Indonesia to train professors on new ICTD curriucla for youth, and delivers keynote address at government training workshop organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology

Depok, Indonesia (UN-APCICT/ESCAP) – Working to bridge the digital divide, over 50 professors and trainers from universities across Indonesia and 60 government officials from various ministries are taking part in ICT capacity development workshops based on United Nations programmes.
