APCICT and the Maldives National University organize workshops to strengthen the ICT capacity for youth and government officials
Over 60 government officials, academics and development stakeholders in the Maldives take part in trainings on using ICT for youth development, disaster risk management and climate change abatement.
On 26-29 March 2012, APCICT and the Maldives National University organized two ICT capacity development workshops. Thirty-one professors and university faculty participated in a Primer Series training of trainers workshop on how to deliver ICTD education to youth. The workshop was delivered by Primer Series author, Dr. Usha Reddi.
Over 140 government officials, academics and development stakeholders in Sri Lanka participate in launch of ICT for youth capacity building programme.
On 20 March, APCICT and the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) of Sri Lanka launched APCICT’s Primer Series on ICT for Development (ICTD) for Youth (Primer Series). The opening ceremony was held in Colombo, with the presence and active engagement of senior-level officials from the MoHE, Ministry of IT and Telecommunication and Ministry of Public Administration,of Sri Lanka, as well as Vice Chancellors from 15 universities

Suva, Fiji (12 March). The Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (UN-APCICT/ESCAP) and the University of the South Pacific (USP) today commenced a two-day workshop in Suva, Fiji, designed to help educators across the Pacific region deliver ICT for development content to youth across the Pacific region.
In March APCICT will extend its ICT capacity building programmes to more beneficiaries in Asia and Pacific Island Countries.

Kicking-off the New Year, APCICT will welcome ASEAN students for a 2-month ICT for development learning experience, launch version 2.0 of the “Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders Programme”, and roll-out Academy Module 9 on the APCICT Virtual Academy.
On 29 October, APCICT organized the Sixth Session of the Governing Council of APCICT-ESCAP in Cheonan, Republic of Korea. The meeting welcomed the Governing Council’s elected representatives from Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, the Republic of Korea and Thailand as well as partners from APCICT’s “Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders Programme”.
