APCICT and partners in Central Asia to enhance ICTD through a series of events in September: Sub-regional workshop on ICT for disaster management and climate change abatement in Kyrgyzstan; and launch of localized Academy of ICT Essential for Government Leaders programme in Tajikistan.
APCICT partners, the Directorate National of Information and Communication Technology of Timor-Leste’s Ministry of Infrastructure (DNICT) and the University of Indonesia (UoI), organized the 3rd National Academy Workshop in Dili, Timor-Leste with the support of APCICT on 8 – 12 August.
This month UN-APCICT/ESCAP will support Timor-Leste’s Directorate National of Information and Communication Technology to deliver an “Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders” workshop, and participate in the International Youth Forum in the Republic of Korea to raise awareness on ICT for development.
UN and Bhutan launch ICT capacity development programme to improve connectivity and bridge digital divide in Himalayan kingdom
More than 40 senior government officials and policymakers representing 10 ministries and 5 autonomous government agencies are meeting in Thimphu this week to roll-out a UN information and communication technology (ICT) capacity building programme that aims to support socio-economic development in Bhutan.
On 4-8 July, UN-APCICT/ESCAP will partner with the Royal Government of Bhutan’s Ministry of Information and Communication and the Royal Institute of Management to launch the “Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders” (Academy) programme in the country.
On 16 June, APCICT celebrates its 5 year anniversary as a regional institute of UNESCAP. APCICT was established in 2006, to help build the capacity of countries within the Asia-Pacific region through training programmes, research and advisory services in the use of ICT for socio-economic development.

Designed to help enhance understanding of everyday ICT terminology and to serve as a reference for those looking to identify institutions providing ICT for development (ICTD) training in the Asia-Pacific, the resources, currently in draft form, will be formally published and distributed in July 2011.
