What’s Ahead@APCICT in January/February 2013

APCICT kicks off 2013 with a wide range of ICTD initiatives, welcoming the 2013 cohort of ASEAN students as part of the Turning Today’s Youth into Tomorrow’s Leaders Programme, launching an ICT capacity development Monitoring and Evaluation Toolkit through the Centre’s online distance learning platform, and organizing an Expert Group Meeting on new ICTD training materials.

APCICT convenes Seventh Session of the Governing Council of APCICT-ESCAP

On 21 November, APCICT organized the Seventh Session of the Governing Council of APCICT-ESCAP in Bangkok, Thailand. The 7th Session welcomed the Governing Council’s 9 elected representatives from Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, the Republic of Korea and Thailand, as well as partners from APCICT’s capacity development programmes.

The Royal Institute of Management delivers Academy training for government officials and private sector IT managers

On 16 November, the Royal Institute of Management (RIM) organized a capacity building workshop in Thimphu, Bhutan utilizing two modules from APCICT's flagship programme the "Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders" (Academy).  Sixteen participants from government and the private sector received training from national resource persons on Academy modules 5 – Internet Governance, and 6 – Information Security and Privacy.

Incheon, Republic of Korea – Over 50 government officials, representatives from academia and development stakeholders from 25 Asia-Pacific countries are meeting in Incheon, Republic of Korea this week to review the progress and impact of United Nations’ information and communications technology for development (ICTD) programmes.
