Recognizing the potential that open and distance learning has to improve access to education for people facing socio-economic or geographical constraints, the United Nations Asian and Pacific Training Center for ICT for Development (UN-APCICT) has published the Open and Distance Learning in Asia and the Pacific Case Study, the third issue of its ICT for Development (ICTD) Case Study Series.
On 28-30 April, UN-APCICT launched its ICTD capacity building programme, the "Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders," in collaboration with the Bangladesh Computer Council in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
On 15-18 April, 2014, UN-APCICT organized its Regional Training of Trainers Workshop on Primer Series 2 on “Project Management and Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICTD)” and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) of the Primer Programme in Incheon, Republic of Korea.
UN-APCICT promotes ICT for development human capacity building in countries in Asia-Pacific and Africa
On 15-18 April 2014, APCICT organized a Capacity Building Workshop on E-Government, Information Security and Privacy in collaboration with the Telecommunications Technology Association of the Republic of Korea and the African Development Bank for 26 government officials and policymakers from 9 countries in Asia-Pacific and 6 countries from Africa.
In March of 2014, APCICT launched four new online modules of its flagship programmes the 'Academy of ICT Essential for Government Leaders' and the 'Primer Series on ICTD for Youth' on its online distance learning platform, the APCICT Virtual Academy.
On 3-5 February 2014, APCICT will co-organized a workshop on ICT for Disaster Risk Management with the Career Executive Service Board (CESB) of the Philippines in order to address the urgent needs of improving the capacity of the country to more effectively respond to disaster situations and of enhancing its disaster risk reduction efforts.
8th Session of APCICT’s Governing Council convened in Incheon, Republic of Korea on 12 December 2013

United Nations ICTD human capacity building centre, APCICT, organized its Second Partners Meeting of the "Primer Series on ICTD for youth" on 10-13 December 2013, aimed at enhancing training in information and communication technologies for development (ICTD) for young people in the Asia-Pacific region.
A delegation of over 13 officials from Iraq visited APCICT on the 6th of December of 2013 to learn more about APCICT’s ICT human capacity building programme.
