From 15 to 17 May 2023, The Asian and Pacific Training Centre for ICT for Development, a regional institute of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), will organize the South-East Asia Sub-Regional Training on “ICT for Climate Resilient Development” in Bangkok, Thailand.
The event aims to raise awareness on the role of ICT experts in addressing their roles on the global challenge of climate change. It will enhance understanding among participants on the key concepts of climate resilient development and the applications of ICTs in climate resilient development, adaptation and mitigation.
During the training, participants will look into climate resilient development and its associated terminologies, including key linkages among the ICT sector, climate change and disaster risk management, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The training seeks to strengthen collaborative partnerships between ICT and climate change professionals to achieve climate resilient outcomes in various areas of work.
The training will be attended by ICT policymakers, managers and officers in the public sector as well as technical officers working in climate-related sectors of countries in South-East Asia. It is being organized in support of ESCAP’s 79th Commission Session on the theme of “Accelerating climate action in Asia and the Pacific for sustainable development”, which will be held from 15 to 19 May 2023 at the UNCC in Bangkok.
