A delegation of over 13 officials from Iraq visited APCICT on the 6th of December of 2013 to learn more about APCICT’s ICT human capacity building programme. The delegation was received by Dr. Hyeun-suk Rhee, APCICT’s Director. During their visit, APCICT introduced its flagship programme, the Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders(Academy), and also conducted a seminar on Module 3, “e-Government Applications.”
The Iraqi delegation’s visit demonstrates the broadening impact of APCICT’s work, which is reaching not only countries in the Asia-Pacific region, but also in other regions of the world. Thus far, APCICT has co-organized with UN-ECLAC (United Nations Economic Commission for Latin American and the Caribbean) training activities in Latin America and the Caribbean on Module 9; worked with UN-ESCWA (United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia) for the localization and implementation of Academy modules in Western Asia; and collaborated with UN-ECA (United Nations Economic Commission for Africa) to introduce Modules 9 and 10 to the African region. Governments of countries in other regions, such as the Governments of Belarus, Mauritius, and the Dominican Republic have also expressed interest in utilizing the Academy modules.
