Regional Forum on ICT Human Capacity Development and Launch of Women and ICT Frontier Initiative
UN-APCICT/ESCAP organized the Regional Forum on ICT Human Capacity Development on 9-10 June 2016 in Incheon.
To be held on the occasion of APCICT’s 10th Anniversary, the meeting provided the multi-stakeholder platform to engage participants from over 50 countries in a dialogue on ICT capacity development towards a sustainable future. It will facilitate an exchange of ideas and perspectives on effective ICTD capacity building, identify lessons learned, and chart the way forward.
UN-APCICT launches Women and ICT Frontier Initiative to promote women’s entrepreneurship
The United Nations Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (UN-APCICT), a regional institute of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), launched the ‘Women and ICT Frontier Initiative’ (WIFI) on June 9 at the Regional Forum on ICT Human Capacity Development in Incheon, Republic of Korea.

Building ICT capacity of women entrepreneurs
The Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (APCICT) organized a pilot workshop on WIFI at Clark City, Philippines on 4-6 May 2016. This is part of the new flagship programme for women entrepreneurs in Asia and the Pacific, called “Women and ICT Frontier Initiative”(WIFI) that will be launched in June.
National Workshop on Module 3 "e-Government Applications" in Indonesia
The Academy programme was launched in Jakarta, Indonesia in March, 2009. Since then, national workshops have been consistently held in various regions in the country every year.
On 26-29 April 2016, the National Workshop for Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders was held in Makassar, the capital of South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia.
The workshop was jointly organized by national Academy partners, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Universitas Indonesia, in support of UN-APCICT.

UN-APCICT organizes a consultation workshop on ‘Women and ICT Frontier Initiative (WIFI)’ in Pakistan
UN-APCICT will conduct a consultation workshop on the ‘Women and ICT Frontier Initiative (WIFI)’ in Islamabad, Pakistan on 14-16 December.
WIFI is APCICT’s latest flagship programme that aims to strengthen the ICT skills of women entrepreneurs in Asia and the Pacific. During the workshop, the Centre will collect feedback on the draft WIFI training modules from women entrepreneurs and trainers in the country to enhance relevance and quality of the contents. It will further identify roll-out strategies to implement the programme in Pakistan.

UN-APCICT promotes capacity building in the use of ICT for inclusive, resilient and sustainable development
On 1-4 December, the United Nations Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (UN-APCICT) will hold the Regional Dialogue on ICTD Capacity Building for Inclusive, Resilient and Sustainable Development and Annual Partners Meeting in Incheon, Republic of Korea.
UN-APCICT fosters capacity building on social media for development and governance of Sri Lankan Government Officials
UN-APCICT and the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) are co-organizing the Capacity Building Programme on Social Media for Development and Governance from 5 to 9 October in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Aiming to increase awareness and build capacities of 180 members of parliament, government leaders, policymakers, GCIOs, and officers from various agencies and ministries of the Government, the programme will train participants on how to leverage social media and other emerging ICT trends for national development.
