The Fifteenth Session of the APCICT Governing Council was held virtually on 26 November 2020.
The Governing Council reviewed the administration, financial status and progress of implementation of the Centre’s programmes. The outcome and recommendations of an independent evaluation conducted on APCICT in 2020 were presented and discussed during the session. The Council also provided advice on the strategic direction and future workplan of the Centre.
The Ministry of Communications and Informatics (MCI) of Indonesia, in collaboration with the University of Indonesia and with support from APCICT, organized a National Training on “Data-Driven Governance”, on 17 November 2020.
The virtual seminar was based on the Bahasa Indonesia version of APCICT’s Academy Module on “Realizing Data-Driven Governance”. The event was attended by over 270 participants from central governments, local governments and academia.
In an effort to strengthen the capacities of women entrepreneurs and trainers in Papua New Guinea, APCICT co-organized a training on “Women ICT Frontier Initiative” (WIFI), in collaboration with the Digital Transformation Center (DTC-PNG) and ITU Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, from 20 October to 3 November 2020.
Webinar on Digital Technologies for Disaster Risk Management (Virtual Launch of APCICT Academy Module on ICT for Disaster Risk Management)
APCICT organized a webinar on “Digital Technologies for Disaster Risk Management” (Virtual Launch of APCICT Academy Module on ICT for Disaster Risk Management) on Thursday, 27 August 2020, 1:30 PM (Bangkok time), 3:30 PM (Korea time).
The virtual launch of the APCICT Academy module on “ICT for Disaster Risk Management” introduced the newly developed contents by Dr. Cees Van Westen and Dr. Manzul Kumar Hazarika. It also provided an overview of how ICTs can be used for disaster risk management.
APCICT celebrates the Girls in ICT Day by imparting digital skills to girls and young women in Thailand
As part of the 2020 Girls in ICT Day celebration in Thailand, APCICT conducted a training based on its Women ICT Frontier Initiative (WIFI) programme under the Smart Farming Track to enhance digital skills of young women and girls in agriculture. The virtual training aims to increase knowledge on the opportunities that digital technologies offer in catalyzing women’s entrepreneurship as well as to introduce emerging ICT tools and applications.
APCICT promoted E-Learning Course on "Realizing Data Driven Governance" among North and Central Asia Partners
A demonstration session of APCICT’s e-learning course on “Realizing Data-Driven Governance (Russian language)” was conducted on 5 August 2020 to introduce the latest addition of e-learning course as well as to identify training needs of the North and Central Asian region.
Realizing Data-Driven Governance course was designed to help government officials understand data-driven governance and enhance the use of data for evidence based decision-making policy.
APCICT conducted a virtual seminar on “Digital Government Leadership” for senior level officials of the Republic of Maldives, from 20 July to 10 August 2020. The event was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology.

ESCAP/APCICT organized a webinar on “How the Republic of Korea turned the tide on COVID-19 using ICT” on Tuesday, 28 April 2020, 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM (Korea Time).
To support member States to enhance women’s economic empowerment and entrepreneurship as a strategy for poverty reduction, social wellbeing and sustainable economic growth towards the realisation of SDG 5 on Gender equality, ESCAP is implementing a five-year (2019-2023) regional programme on “Catalysing Women’s Entrepreneurship – Creating a Gender-Responsive Entrepreneurial Ecosystem” funded by the Government of Canada.

The Governing Council reviewed the administration, financial status and progress of implementation of the Centre’s programmes. It also provided strategic advice on the Centre’s future work plan and activities in support of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.
