The role and mission for APCICT is to strengthen the efforts of the sixty two ESCAP member and associate member countries to use ICT in their socio-economic development through building the human and institutional capacity for ICT.
Recognizing the importance of capacity building in ICT, APCICT has been established to build capacity of policymakers, project managers and trainers and conduct research on human resource development in the field of ICT that will support the training programme. The ultimate goal of the centre is to reduce the digital divide in the region.
The areas of work that APCICT undertakes can be classified as follows:
- Training and Workshops: Providing programmes for the training of trainers and exchange of trainers and experts.
- Research: Undertaking analytical studies related to human resources development in ICT, including identifying training needs and sharing good practice in human resources development programmes and training methods.
- Advisory Services: Providing advisory services on ICT-related human resources development to UNESCAP members and associate members.
