The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) meets annually at the ministerial level to discuss and decide on important issues pertaining to inclusive and sustainable economic and social development in the region.

This year's Commission<http://www.unescap.org/commission>, the 71st session, will take place from 25 to 29 May 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand. Its theme is "Balancing the Three Dimensions of Sustainable Development: From Integration to Implementation".

An important event at this year's Commission is the election of a new APCICT Governing Council. In accordance with its statute, APCICT has a Governing Council consisting of a representative of the Government of the Republic of Korea and eight representatives of members and associate members of ESCAP elected by the Commission.

The current Governing Council consists of the host country the Republic of Korea and the following elected members: Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Their three year term of 2012-2015 will come to an end at the forthcoming Commission session, and a new Governing Council will be elected for the next 3-year term of 2015-2018.

ESCAP and APCICT are now making the final arrangements to ensure a smooth election of the new Governing Council members.
