On 24 March 2015, the Government of Lao People’s Democratic Republic and UN-APCICT/ESCAP launched the Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders (Academy) in Vientiane. The launch event was co-organized with the country’s Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.
The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) launched the Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders in the ESCWA Region (AIGLE)on 8 June 2015 in Beirut, Lebanon.
APCICT participated in the launch via online conference call and shared the Centre’s experience in institutionalizing its ICT human capacity development programmes. Following the AIGLE launch, ESCWA conducted a 5-day Regional Training-of-Trainers with AIGLE.
To support the Nepalese Government’s human capacity building efforts on the use of ICTs for development, on 7 July, UN-APCICT launched the Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders in Kathmandu Nepal.
On 16 June, UN-APCICT officially launched the Chinese version of its module on ICT for disaster risk management at the Metropolis Public Security and Emergency Management International Conference, organized IAEM and the Shanghai Administration Institute in Shanghai, China.
Islamic Republic of Iran is 30th country in Asia-Pacific to institutionalize ‘Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders'
On 27 July 2015, APCICT launched the Academy of ICT Essential for Government Leaders (‘Academy’) in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Academy is APCICT's flagship ICTD human capacity development programme for policymakers and government officials. The 11-module Academy curriculum aims to build the capacity of civil servants to leverage ICT to achieve national development goals.
On 28-30 April, UN-APCICT launched its ICTD capacity building programme, the "Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders," in collaboration with the Bangladesh Computer Council in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
