e-Learning

This page contains resources on the use of ICTs in education, including teaching and learning in both formal and non-formal settings. Issues of effectiveness, cost, equity and sustainability, and the challenges of integrating ICTs in education are examined in many of these resources.

Using ICTs, a shift in the learning process could take place from teaching to self-directed learning, and from a one-time event to lifelong learning. ICTs can increase access to basic learning; reach disadvantaged populations; improve educational management; and enhance diverse and collective learning processes.

Resources examine the various issues to consider when:

  • Creating an enabling policy environment for the systematic integration of ICT in education.
  • Using ICT in formal and non-formal educational setting.
  • Supporting teachers and trainers.
  • Developing training and learning materials.
